Last Sunday, March 27, the Rosso Corsa Racing Team made its debut at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia with drivers Álvaro Fontes and Antonio Sainero at the wheel, being a very positive first experience. After not being able to participate in the free practice on Saturday, Fontes brought out his experience in Q1 driving a Ferrari 458 Italia Challenge, with which he achieved a second position in the GPX category, finishing sixth overall. Sainero would take over in Q2, repeating the same positions.
The first race started at the end of noon, and once again, Fontes offered an impressive performance. As the laps passed, the wear of tires and brakes penalised the pace of the car, which would make its pit stop halfway through the race. Later, with Sainero at the wheel, Rosso Corsa’s Ferrari 458 Challenge kept competing at a high level, and certified its second position among GPX and sixth in the general classification. In the second race, it was Sainero who drove first, running second behind Eiser. With Fontes back at the wheel of the Ferrari, a fast and steady pace gave the team the second place at the end of the race.
“We are very happy with these two second positions. We have shown the competitiveness of our Ferrari 458 Challenge and everyone in the Rosso Corsa Team has positive feelings. We didn’t have a pre-season and despite experiencing some problems with the brake pads, we managed to climb twice on the podium. In Algarve we will go for even more.”, said Fontes.
