The Ferrari 458 was designed by Pininfarina Ferrari and production started in 2010. The 458 was described by Ferrari in the launch announcement as the ‘heir to the F430’, deriving from an entirely new design, incorporating knowledge acquired from their experience in Formula 1. The setup is a mid-engined V8 2-seater, with 4 phase variants in the open-top design and aerodynamic enhancements.
The Ferrari 458 was designed by Pininfarina Ferrari under the guidance of Donato Coco, the Ferrari design director. It was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2009 and began production in 2010. It was designed to be Ferrari’s sportiest V8-engined car, drawing inspiration from the Enzo Ferrari and its Millechili concept car. The car’s exterior styling and features were designed to give more aerodynamic efficiency. Specifically, the small aeroelastic winglets generate downforce and, as speed rises, deform to reduce the section of the radiator intake and cut drag. The powertrain features direct fuel injection, paired with the innovative F1- inspired suspension and seven-speed dual clutch. The styling is intense and its interior march with this concept, designed with feedback from Michael Schumacher himself.
